Dr Mary-Anne Walters
  • BVSc

Mary-Anne joined our Q'SuperStore Veterinary team in Summer 2019.  She has been able to achieve that rare combination of deep, personal passion and career success. Ever since Dr Mary-Anne can remember, she always wanted to be a Vet. She completed her degree after 7 years of studying at Onderstepoort in South Africa in 2012. In 2013, she worked in a clinic in Durban on the coast of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa where she was on call nights and weekends due to the clinic’s doors being open on a 24-hour basis. In 2015, she managed to convince her fiancé who is also a vet, to move to the UK and they settled in Surrey for two and a half years, both working in a small animal and equine clinic. By 2018, the British weather was making them feel discontented, so they returned to South Africa to await their Australian visa. Fast forward to end of Spring 2018 where they settled into their new life in Australia.

“I love working with domestic animals and developing a relationship with both them and our clients. After all, someone has to look after our four-legged friends who cannot speak for themselves.”

Dr Mary-Anne is passionate about internal medicine having had a very diverse introduction to veterinary medicine. She also enjoys general surgery. She is hoping to advance in diagnostic imaging, especially ultrasound at some point in her career. Her dog Pheobe has travelled with her and her husband all over the globe. Phoebe is originally from South Africa and has settled in comfortably to the Gold Coast lifestyle. Dr Mary-Anne’s hobbies are the outdoors and marathons. The pitter patter of tiny two-legged feet is what will influence Dr Mary-Anne to take a reasonable break from being a Vet by Spring this year. Until then, Dr Mary-Anne is proud to now serve the pets and animal owners within the community.

Practice Manager

Rae feels the impact animals have on illness recovery is nothing short of miraculous. Growing up in Cairns, Rae became deeply passionate about animals after she learned that going through cancer at a young age was better with the support and company of her pet dog. Rae commenced her Vet Nursing Studies back in 2007 with her nursing journey starting in a small and large animal practice in the beautiful Hinterland on the Sunshine Coast, Maleny. Here she acquired vast knowledge in all aspects of veterinary nursing. In 2012 Rae decided that the beach was calling her so she embarked on a new journey as a head veterinary nurse at Mountain Creek, Sunshine Coast. Fast forward to 2016, Rae returned to her hometown Cairns for quality family time whilst working for the Balaclava Veterinary Clinic.

At the core: a commitment to excellence, a commitment to providing pet lovers with attentive customer care. Rae's view is that owning a pet is an intrinsic part of human nature, reflecting that the physiological and emotional benefits that ensue from a positive pet-human relationship is a source of emotional fulfilment and promotes well-being. Rae’s passion is to provide the best possible care for your pet and advance the concept of pet-keeping to pet indulgence and optimal health care.

In Rae’s spare time she enjoys nature, hiking, water-sports and spending time with her teenage daughter.

Annaliese has always loved and gravitated towards animals, but it wasn’t until 2016 that she realised she wasn’t making the positive difference to the world like she always wanted to and decided to work with animals. She has been with the Vetcall team since April 2019 and in her spare time loves being by the ocean, travelling and music. She is loved at home by her two rescue cats, Charli and Benji.
